Kms.) Situated 95 kms away from Pune, Bhimashankar
is one of the five 'jyotirlingas' - (Swayambhu, naturally formed lingas of Lord Shiva) in Maharashtra, built by the eminent
statesman Nana Phadnavis.
Jejuri : (Distance 48 Kms.) Famous for its Khandoba deity, Jejuri fort is regarded as a place of
worship by Hindus. It is 48 kms from the city. Jejuri is known for its Khandoba deity and is considered a religious place
by Hindus.
Alandi :(Distance 45 Kms.) Situated on the banks of river Indrayani, this place is famous for the
memorial of the great saint dnyaneshwar, whose famous manuscript 'Dynaneshwari' is renowned the world over. Truly a pilgrim
centre, the 'palki' (palanquin) in the month of Asadh (June-July) is very popular. Lakhs of devotees from all over participate
in this procession. It is also an international centre for peace and religious studies.
Dehu: It is the place of Sant
Tukaram - a well known saint of Maharashtra. One can see his temple here on the banks of the river.
Osho Ashram : (Distance 2 Kms.) The founder of the ashram was Bhagawan Rajneesh. The ashram offers the
variety of courses on mediation.
Pataleshwar Cave Temple: ( Distance 3 Kms.) An 8th century rock-cut temple in the heart of the city, at shivajinagar is worth visiting. Made out of a
single rock, this ancient temple is reminiscent of Ellora and includes massive pillars, a shrine stone and the Nandi bull.
Kamar Ali Darvesh Dargah: Located
16 kms away from Pune city in Shivapur ( a small village), this dargah is visited by people belonging to all religions. The
most exciting feature of this dargah is that it has two huge stones which can be lifted by reciting the sacred name of kamar
ali darvesh in one breath.
Aurangabad
Aundha Nagnath ( Distance 210 Kms.)
: A pilgrim centre of great significance, since it is considered to be the first (aadya) of the 12 jyotirlingas in the
country. Apart from this honour, the temple of Naganath has exquisite carvings. Nanded, 64 kms. by road from the Aundha, is
famous for the Sach Khand Huzur Sahib Gurudwara where Guru Gobind Singh's ashes are buried.
Shirdi ( Distance 140 Kms.) :
Who is not familier with this renowned abode of Saibaba? Devotees
belonging to every faith throng here to pay their respects to his memory. Thursday is the special day, and Ramnavmi, Guru
Pournima and Dessera. Fairs are organised on a large scale. Besides the Saibaba shrine, there's a Dwarkamayi Mosque and Sakori
Ashram.
Ghrishneshwar Temple ( Shiva Temple)

Paithan ( Distance 56 Kms.): Located
on the Bank of Godavari, Saint Eknath Maharaj Shrine. There is a Dnyaneshwar Garden around the Jaikwadi Dam. Also for Paithani

Nashik
Trimbakeshwar ( Distance 225 Kms.)
: It's one of the five Jyotirlingas in Maharashtra. In February-March, on Mahashivaratri day, a large fair is held here,
which draws hundereds of people from all over India. Every twelve years, the Sinhastha fair, the most important Kumbh Mela
after Allahabad's is held here. Complementing the sanctity of the town, are the beautiful surroundings : Brahmagiri Hill,
Neel Pavat, Kushawart Teerth, Gangadwar.
Ramkund (Nasik) This holy
bathing tank, 1 km east of the town centre, is the focus for pilgrims filing into Nasik. Kala Rama
Mandir (Nasik) Holiest temple of the city, Kala Rama Mandir -- the black stone temple is in a 96-arched enclosure
and contains icons of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita and Laxman as well as a huge bell which can be heard from a distance of about
5 kms. Kumbh Mela in Nasik (Nasik) The Kumbh Mela, supposedly the largest celebration of
any kind on earth, alternates between Nasik, Allahabad, Ujjain and Haridwar. Pandu Lena (Around Nasik)
About 8 kms south of Nasik, close to the Mumbai road, is a group of 24 Hinayana Buddhist caves dating from around
the 1st century B.C. to the 2nd Century A.D. Trimbak (Around Nasik) From a spring high on
a steep hill above Trimbak, 33 km west of Nasik, the source of the Godavari river dribbles into the Ganga-sagar bathing tank
whose waters are reputed to wash away sins.
Mumbai
Siddhivinayak Temple : A few
Kms. away from Nehru Planetarium and Science Centre, is this splendid temple of Lord Ganpati or Siddhivinayak, made of white
marble. People come here from all over Mumbai and even from other parts of the state to worship. Especially, Tuesday is considered
the most auspicious day of the week to visit this temple when long serpentine quqes from outside the temple from wee hours
of the morning.
Mount Mary Church : A sacred
place where the revered Madonna of Mount Mary stands. Large crowds comprising not just Catholics people from all communitites
come here to pay obeisance. A special feature is the annual fair, when the entire area comes alive with people, festivity,
music and games for 15 days.
Haji Ali : Not far from Malabar
Hill is this beautiful massoleum situated at the culmination of a causeway jutting out into the Arabian Sea. This is the tombstone
of the famous Muslim Saint Haji Ali. The mosque can be reached only at low tide.

Pune
Shivneri: Famous for
the birthplace of the great Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Shivneri is an important historical fort 95 kms from pune.
Sinhagad: Conquered by Chhatrapati
Shivaji Maharaj in 1670, this fort is one of the most impregnable fortresses in western India. It is about 25 kms away from
the city. It is also a popular trekking destination.
Raigad: This mountain fort
was the capital of the Marathas from 1664 to 1680. This 'Trekkers Paradise' is about 150 kms away from the city.
Aurangabad
Ajanta Caves ( Distance 110Kms.)
: Buddhist cave temples and monasteries cut into the rock,
dating from 200 BC to 650 AD. The caves here are renowned chiefly for their magnificent wall paintaings, depicting scenes
from the life of Buddha. In addition there are notable sculptures and of course, the overwhelming architecture. Caves 16
and 17 contain the finest paintings in Ajanta. Caves 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 19, 27, 28, 29 also contained paintings and
sculptures which are worth seeing. India's oldest cave temples, the Pithalkhora Caves, are accessible 78 kms. from Aurangabad.
Ellora Caves (Distance 30 Kms.)
: Number of caves : 34 ( 16 Hindu, 13 Buddhist and 5 Jain). Constructed between the 5th and 8th centuries AD. Ellora
caves are famous for the sculpture and carvings. ( Ellora caves are closed for visit every Tuesday).
Pitalkhora Caves ( Distance 78 Kms.)
: Indias oldest cave temple ( 13 Buddhist Caves). These caves built in 2nd, 5th, 6th Centuries.
Daulatabad Fort ( Distance 14 Kms.)
: Built in 13th century by Hindu King Yadav.
Bibi-ka-Maqbara ( Distance 6Kms.)
: Also called as mini Taj Mahal or Replica of Taj Mahal. Built by Aurangzeb's Son, Azam Shah in Tribute to his beloved
Mother Begum Rubia Durani.
